Jake’s Story

My name is Jake, and I’m the founder of Glow.

From a young age, I struggled with my mental health. When I was 12 years old, I lost my dad to suicide. That loss left a space in my life I didn’t know how to process, and for a long time I tried to fill it in the wrong ways. Alcohol became part of how I coped, how I socialised, and how I tried to fit in. Over time, it stopped me from becoming the person I knew I could be.

Sixteen months ago, I made the decision to enter recovery. That choice changed everything.

As I moved through recovery, I realised something important: I wasn’t alone. Many people on a similar journey shared the same feelings of loneliness, isolation, and uncertainty about how to socialise without alcohol. I wanted connection, confidence, and a sense of belonging—but without returning to the life I had left behind.

One person I met during that time stood out to me. He regularly attended social events, seemed comfortable around alcohol, and yet remained completely committed to his sobriety. I was curious how he did it. That’s when I learned he was drinking 0% alcohol.

That moment opened up a new world for me.

Alcohol-free drinks allowed me to take part without compromise. I could enjoy social moments, feel included, and still wake up clear-headed and focused on the life I was building. For the first time, I realised I didn’t have to choose between belonging and my wellbeing.

That experience inspired Glow.

Glow was created to be more than just a non-alcoholic lager. It’s about confidence, connection, and giving people an option that supports a healthier, more positive lifestyle—whether they’re in recovery, on a journey of personal growth, or simply choosing something better for themselves.

At Glow, we care deeply about people. We believe everyone deserves to feel like they belong, to feel confident in themselves, and to have the mental space to pursue their ambitions. For me, sobriety created time, clarity, and energy—and I’ve seen that same transformation in so many others.

Glow exists to support a mindset that prioritises wellbeing, purpose, and progress. Because real change starts from within—and sometimes, it starts with what’s in your glass.
